Hi, i have a 3ft x 1ft x 1.5ft tank at the moment with a senegal birchir and a african knife fish in it. They will eventually be going in to a 60 gallon but was just wondering if i could have a parrot fish with these two fish. Also if i can what else do i need to get for the parrot fish, someone mentioned live rock and coral but i thought that was just for salt water fish. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I wanted to find all the info out before buying the fish

You can keep them together, but the knife will soon outgrow a 60G,
Parrots don't need any special care tbh

You don't need live rock and coral for a parrot fish - treat it like you would any other American cichlid. Mine are doing great with my severums, and I definitely don't have any coral or live rock in my tank.

They are great fish though - plenty of personality :good: though IMO, feeding sinking pellets is better for these guys, as mine had problems eating from the surface (think cos of the deformed mouths, they were taking in too much air). With the sinking food, they can just swim into the food :D

edited cos I can't spell, haha

Ok thankyou very much. My husband loves these fish so i wanted to buy him one for his birthday, just wanted to check the fish would be happy first
