Basically,I want to know your opinion on the so called "Baby Blood Parrot" or "Parrot Cichlid".
Do you think they should produce these fish? Why or why not?Do you think the fish themselves are happy to be alive?Do you think they're entitled to their right to exist?Or Do you think that they're an abomination against god like most people?

I hate them but they sell very well and very hardy fish and it's and eye catching fish although for the wrong thing.........

really cannot see the appeal, imo they are even uglier than most coldwater fish and they are ugly! To me they look like cartoon fish and the way their mouths are permanently open is just wrong.

I see people with nice tetras, plecos, cichlids and even aro's showing off their tanks and whammo it creeps into view, a misshapen orange blob.... yuck.

just my opinion

i had one and she was lovely, liked her for her ugliness and she had a fantastic personality. one of my favourite fish i've ever owned

I know! They are so ugly that they're adorable!!!You kinda want to just hug 'em but you know you can't so you just observe them bumble into view and they look at you with those googley eyes and their lil' mouths are always smiling it's so cute!!!!

I had one once, name was tigger, I personally don't think they're ugly at all, I find them to be quite adorable! And of course I feel they have a right to exist, all living creatures have the right to exist. Be they ugly, or "unnatural" or whatever.

I've got a pair of BP's - they're most definitely one of my favourite fish, adorable with great personalities.

I personally love the little buggers!!!

You would get a better response out of this if you went ot the hybrid section too. Most people don't appreciate or like hybrid fish, at least from what I've seen. But in the hybrid section, you would get a lot of "they're great fish" responses. so who knows :dunno:? IMO, al fish are beautiful in their own ways, even manmade hybrids...

Man-made freaks. Cramped internal organs, distorted body shape. No discussion required.

Creul and Inhumane. The breeding process has caused grave abnormatlities with the body of the parrot fish making most of their life a distress.

Yeah, mine are sobbing into their Tetra Prima right now.

At least if you're going to argue something - make a point that has a basis.

Personally? I didn't like them, held the same view - in that I didn't like the way they were purposefully bred freaks of nature that I was informed were likely to die at any second due to massive abnormalities.

Then I had to put up with 2 years constant whinging for a pair - and ended up getting a breeding pair. I'm now fully converted, wouldn't purposefully buy any more - they're my hubby's fish, but I love them, and they're very healthy and hardy - and have spawned several times - so aren't living a life of misery (sorry but that was a classic, I may be chortling all day now!).
