Iv`e had a break out of what to me is Anchor Worms, below is a pic (not mine) of what they look like. Its pretty much infected all my rainbows but not my clown loaches (yet) My LFS advise i treated with Waterlife flukes med and remove them with tweezers so i did. Anyway just over a week later there back but worst. I have been reading on the net about Interpet Anti Crustacean and Waterlife Parazin P, the Parazin P is for ponds but doesn`t kill the filter bacteria where as the Interpet has nad reports of killing it. Is the Parazin P safe for the Clown Loaches?

The med to look for is potassium permanganate. Do not manually removed the worms as all you do is detach the body and leave the head behind.

Anchor worms are actually crustaceans. The young are free swimming and borrow into the skin, go into the muscles and develop for several months before showing. They release eggs and die. The holes left behind are ugly and may become infected. The anchor worm is too deeply imbedded to safely remove. Treatment can best be done with a 10 to 30 minute bath in 10 mg per liter of potassium permanganate. Or treat the whole tank with 2 mg per liter, but this method is messy and dyes the water.

It is also possible to treat them with Dimilin. This is not an aquatic med, but should do the job. If you Google it you will get the info.
