Hydrolycus armatus is the famed fanged monster of the Amazon, achieving sizes in excess of a meter (see the tape) and reaching almost 40 pounds. Although they may look like a nightmare come to life, they are really every fisherman's dream. They strike like a peacock bass, run like a tuna and cap it off with wild acrobatic leaps like a tarpon.
Aviici said:Yeah I'd say that's a Hydrolycus Scomberoides, so you should be alright with it only growing to about 30cm. It'll eat everything else in your tank though, even if they're bigger than him. This fish is not recommended to be kept with ANY other fish unless they're a lot larger than itself, or they're equally confident.
Yours is just a juvie at the moment so it'll be quite shy, but once he gets some confidence, your other fish better watch out
I'd happily take him off your hands though!
