I have found small crustacean type animals climbing the glass, from 1mm to 5mm in size, oval shapped, translucent edging with white oval shaped inner body. I understand they may have come in on plants, but apart from physically removing them with a clean dry cloth, what else can i do. are they a danger to my fish and if so, how do i irradicate them.

Sounds like baby snails- most common fix I know of is to drop a lettuce leaf in the tank over night and apparently (I've never tried it) they'll mostly all be on it in the morning.

How come you change the whole tank of water?

I thought they may be crustacean parasites....but baby snails, i thought they were male or female not both. well with these golden apple snails anyway. but thanks guys. and i do a full change to sort out the plants a they become unbedded.

im leaning towards baby snails. came in with the plants. personally id leave them. they are good for cleanup. wont overrun the tank if you dont overfeed. even if copepods, 100% harmless.
cheers
