hi, i have got 27, 2 week old bristlenose fry. the problem is that i think some of the other fish in the tank have got internal parasites. what can i do to get rid of the parasites but make sure i do not harm the bristlenose fry?? thanks george.

You will have to move the fry to an isolation tank. Once the fry get older they will have to be treated also.

You will need to buy an internal worming med.
What's your location?
Can you please say why you suspect they have internal parasites.

hi, its just that some of the fish somtimes flick on the bottom of the tank.
they are in a 4 foot tank in floating fry boxes.

Are the bristle noses in with the goldfish. If so your tanks severely overstocked.

Fish can flick and rub for a number of reasons =
Bad water quality, meds, parasites external, and internal, something irratating there skin, bacterial.

Signs of internal parasites are as follows -

long stringy white waste, clear fish waste, red fish waste.
Fish will look thin or bloated.
Fish will sometimes swim on it's side.
Red inflamed anus, or enlarged anus.
Sunken in belly.
Bent spine sometimes.
Spitting food out and not eating.
Sometimes flicking and rubbing.
Worms hanging out of the anus.

my water is perfect, i dont think they have anthing that you have mentioned in you list. and my tank isnt over stocked, i have in 6 medium goldfish and my plecs in a 250L with a big external filter. i have had a change around a while ago but never changed my signature. i see 2 of mygoldfish flick about every 3-4 days, its not all of them who do it. do you know what else i could be?
thanks

You need at least a 70 gallon tank for 6 fancy goldfish.
Double filteration.

It's usually 15 gallon for the first fancy goldfish then 10 gallons for every other one added.

If there not showing any of the internal parasite signs if dosn't sound like they have them.,

Check the fish for external parasite symtoms.

Small white spots.
Yellow spots, gold dusting on fish, rusty coloured varnish.
Fish look like they have been dusted in talc.
Greyish white film on a fish, or blue film on a fish.
Excess mucas.
Darting, or erratic swimming.
Flicking and rubbing.
Gasping, laboured breathing.
Red inflamed gills, pale gills with excess mucas, bleeding gills.
Swimmng in a jerky movement.
Check to see if fish have no lifted scales, or missing scales.
Sores, or red pin prick marks on the fish body.
Milky substance on fish body.
