Hiya.

I posted the other day and mentioned that one of my Otos had blood-red gills. His gills aren't as red today, but he does have blood/bright red tissue around his mouth :/ Poor little guy. Anyway...upon closer inspection, it looks like some of my other fishs' gills might be a little redder than usual (or I'm just paying more attention to them than usual). Someone suggested treating for parasites. I have a couple questions.

One: Any product recommendation? I'm in the U.S. I have Neons, Corys, Kuhlis, and an unidentified fry in the tank (perhaps Guppy?), as well as live plants.

Two: I read on here somewhere that garlic can be used to treat parasites. If it does, will the fish benefit by just being in the same water as it, or do they have to consume the garlic?

Three: Is there some other non-chemical/medication treatment I can use? I hate putting chemicals in my fishtank.

Four: Should I isolate the Oto and treat just him, or should I treat the whole tank. I'm thinking the whole tank, but want to get your recommendations, too.

Thank you very much!

Parasites are very difficault to treat cos they are more complex than deseases. i'm not sure wot would work in the us but if u can see it then u should beable to remove it by hand.

Are u sure it's not a fungal infection cos if u do use meds then it could do more harm than good.

i think that chemicals are the only way to go because of the complexity of the condition. I've never heard of garlic being used I've always thought that garlic was something u put in our food never know about it's fishy useses
