One of my females has been holding for weeks (feels like months) and this morning I spotted 3 fry swimming around the tank :), one I am worried about as it was swimming upside down at the surface. I dropped in some cyclops and it ate then swam down the glass and disappeared under some stones, so hopefully it will be ok. Fingers crossed they grow up now they are on their own :)

:) I guess I have made them feel happy and welcome lol. Still got all 3 this morning I am worried the Juli might get them, he is huge!!

3 fry are doing well :), largest female spawned tonight so she is now holding.

Fry doing really well, munching cyclops like it is going out of fashion lol. Largest female spat her eggs, sad but good really as I have an empty rio 300 which I am waiting till the fry are bigger to move everyone into it, hopefully. The trouble is I never have an empty tank very long lol

Update: I seem to be down to 2 fry, I am not sure what happened the only thing different I have done is clean out the filter. However I did add a plastic floating plant so it might be hiding (fingers crossed). They feed really well and have doubled in size :)

The new blue light I added has set them off spawning, the mum of the fry has a mouthful of babies, and another female is holding eggs. The largest female had eggs but it looks like she has spat them again, I dont know why she is not holding them?

Mum is struggling to keep the babies in her mouth now, any day now I expect to see more tiddlers. I am so excited clucking around the tank checking on her asking her to spit her babies out so she can have a good feed, bless her she has lost some condition and her belly is concave again. I fed her up ok last time though.

Finally she released them this morning :) we did have 4 but one was swimming very poorly and now it has disappeared, the Juli I think got him, :( but the other 3 seem to be doing well so far. The other female should be due to release hers in the next few days, she is larger than the new mum, but doesnt look as full in the pouch.

aaawww babies. I cant wait until they are big enough to photograph, all I get at the moment is tiny blobs lol

The second female spat last night, 5 babies this time swimming at the surface now, they are much smaller than the others that have been released and they are all huddled together at the surface in the corner of the tank.

eeeek they are getting better each spawn, latest release of fry was 9 or 10 (worse than counting sheep lol) and so far I have 8 swimming around the tank - which have joined up with the older 4 fry.

Something is going wrong somewhere all 9 babies vanished slowly one by one. They were all eating great, the larger fry from previous batches are fine. I have a feeling they are being eaten by the juli :(. Next batch I will move to a fry tank.
