Panting Pleco

Hi,

I have an adult pair of BN pleco's,
and on monday i treated the tank with interpet no8 anti fungus and finrot, for one of my tetra that was looking a bit rough.
after dosing it mentions to make sure you optimize aeration, i have an airstone and quite a few live plants and have used this treatment before with no problems.
so i didn't think too much of it.
for the first 48 hours i didn't notice any problems, but today both my plecos look like there panting, especially my female.
She can normally say motionless like a rock for ages, but whenever she is resting now she looks like she is struggling to breath.
there both still active and feeding fine and I'm not seeing any odd behavior from my other fish and none are breathing at the surface except my gourami, which do all the time anyway.
Could it be the treatment doing this?
Is this normal behaviour, or do i try to get the treatment out of the tank?
Has anyone else experienced problems with this treatment?

For bacterial diseases usually its best to isolate the sick fish and quarantine. The only situation in which I would recommend treating the whole tank is if you are dealing with something highly contagious ie a parasite outbreak.

Plus, treating the whole tank can cost more than simply treating a 10g QT tank. If your community is 30g and you have say a 10g QT, you would be spending 3x as much by treating the fish in the main tank!

Not to mention some antibiotics have been known to have adverse effects on the biofilter.

Not sure how many more days you need to continue treatment for but it might be best to remove the tetra and treat him separately.

Oh sorry you might want to check your water stats too to ensure that the interpret hasn't harmed the biofilter.
