Fish Herder
I am so very sorry for your loss
Please do not pay to much attention to your Local fish shop attendant I have seen far to much evidence on this forum year in and out to say that, There are some good fish store attendants that give good advice but I think they are far and few between unfortunately.
Simply if you do a 50% water change you should be reducing your Nitrite, Nitrate and Ammonia levels by 50% if your tank is correctly cycled.
If I was in your situation which I have never been in, if I was your local fish shop attendant I would advise you to do a minimum of a 50% water change each and every day until your water levels were correct, NO actually I would not advise you I would plead with you to do so but that is just me I do not think I would make a very good local fish shop attendant lol.
Just out of interest what did you test your water with and what were the actual readings?
Good luck
Regards onebto.
