Just went into my local fish shop, and saw they had some panda Dwarf cichlids, has anyone else kept these and could give me some info on what they are like please. In particular how aggressive are they (being cichlids) and do they have any special requirements. Interesting looking fish and never come across them before.

Thanks!

never heard of them before.are you sure they are african cichlids????

It's an apistogramma panduro and it's pretty similar to the apistogramma nijsseni which I have...They are not agressive at all and should not be put with bigger and more agressive cichlids...they are peaceful and will make good community fish, but might show agression when spawning. They thrive in softer water and their diet consist of bloodworms, brineshrimp and good quality flake food(it might take some time before they eat it, well atleast mine are not picky eaters). Make sure your water condition is at it's peak because these fish prefer really good water like Discuss fish.....If you get these fish thriving in your tank you will be very satisfied even though the fish carry a pretty heavy price tag...Goodluck :D

hi

panda dawarf cichlids are small not so agressive cichlids. best getting a pair or 1 male and 3 females if you insist on breeding them. you just need the basic dawarf cichlid set up (a few small caves, bogwood, thick leaved plants and sand/gravel). they will do well with other non agressive fish but they may tern a little teritoral if breeding. best of just feeding them twice aevr 2 days as blood worms consist of a rich protein diet and could be bad if you dont have a realy good filtration system. if intending on breeding them, the male might go off with 2 females at the same time and the females will compeat with food. the females flirt with the male by cerving on her side and showin her belly, with bright yellow black colours. if the female gose dark she is stressed so check water quality or food.

if you need any more info just say and good luck!
