Hi I have a 21G tank that has been running for sixmonths, I followed all the steps to get a good tank, I mean I did a fishless cycle, I chose compatible fishes, But everytime I put a panada cory in my tank they die in first 2 or 3 days, some of them has survived 3 months. I have bought 15 pandas in these time but only 3 corys have survived. It is a suddenly death.

I hope some one could give some advise.

Cheers

What are your water stats? How are you acclimatising them? Have you got somewhere for the pandas to hide like a cave or wood? What type of substrate have you got in the tank? Have you added salt?

Sorry to hear about your troubles. :/

Thanks for your quick response
These are my water stats
ph 7
gh 5 dhº
Kh 3 dhº
NH2(ammonia) 0
NO2 0
NO3 5
temp 26ºC
I have never add salt to my tank.
They have two bogwood caves, and I have about 15 plants.
My substrate is of 2-3mm.
When I bought some cory I put the bag on the quarentine tank for about 30min after that with a net I introduce them into the aquarium to avoid mixing my water with the lfs one. I usually wait 1 week to move them to main tank.

Your stats sound fine.

When we buy any cories, we put the fish in an ice cream tub with the LFS water, and float it in the tank. We switch the tank lights off so they don't stress out too much. We then add a bit of tank water every few minutes to the ice cream tub. This normally takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour. Then we gently lower the ice cream tub in the tank, allowing it to fill with tank water and allow them to swim out. That way they acclimatise to everything slowly.

I have seen that some people battle with panda cories, and I wonder if this is due to poor specimens. Watch them at the LFS for a few weeks and make sure they have no major loss of fish or any problems with them before you purchase any.

Good luck, and hope it all works out for you soon.

:good:

Thanks for the advised, probably you are right we are not very good choosing healthy cories.
We´ll try the ice cream tub method for next time.
