Panda Cory

Who has had these fish?
Alot of posts say about how good they are but not in detail

I would prefer pygmy corys but as i am hoping to have apistogramma agassizi in the same tank, i am thinking the corys would get eaten!

What are the panda corys like?
How big do they grow?
How playful active are they e.t.c

I've only ever really had panda cory, 6 at the mo..
I think they grow max 2" but rarely hit that (so i think, sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong)

They're pretty active too, always on the move sitting on top of each other ect too..
I've got one that sits on top of my pleco lol.

Try look at some youtube videos or something for a better idea?

2"-3" i think... in my experience they are awesome sooo playfull they always swim around ontop of each other like syncronised swimmers funny to watch and i doubt your apisto wud fancy them as a snack? maybe more experienced members can comment?

panda are the best fish to have, very peaceful and best keep them in group of minimum 6.

Cories in general are nice fish to keep they have similar temperament, really peaceful and are really nice to watch.

I have had the same 8 for 2 years now, currently some are about 1.5 inches the others about 1.

Observing these funny little fish I have come to the conclusion they only have 2 settings

One sitting around calmly with there buddy's occasionally sifting around for food, or they are like going full blast swimming around at break neck speed together up and down round and round a fascinating thing to watch They often join in with my Clown Loach when they are doing there dance thing infact they give the Clowns a run for there money

A wonderful species and worth thinking about I recommend some study on there water, dietary and tank requirements before purchasing.

the Apistos should pose no threat to corys.

Do you guys think pygmy corys would be safe with an apistogramma agassizi (8cm) because they are tiny fish (3cm) ?

I'm keeping Corydoras Hastatus (dwarf cory), similar in size to pygmy cory with a pair of apistogramma macmasteri and a pair of bolivian rams, and also a single pearl gourami. None of them have bothered the corys even during feeding time until now (just over a month).

I have been correctly advised by experienced cory members on this forum to not keep them with the cichlids, but i did try it. Although they are not being disturbed at all at the moment (even at feeding time), i don't see the corys that often (only during feeding time). So if your tank is nicely planted, there is a chance that you will not see your pygmy cories except during feed times, which kind of kills the joy of having them.

But you can always try them as they are lovely and shoal very tightly in the middle areas of the tank. Try and get a shoal of 10-12 if you are getting the pygmies though.
