I recently got both a Bolivian Ram and a German Blue Ram. I didn't really think much about the sex I was buying until I decided to put the German Blue in my tank. I picked what I thought was a boy (GBR) but after looking up the differences again I think I might have a female. The two were fine for a day (Had the BR first) and then went to nipping at each other for another day, now they are swimming together around the tank..
I've really never dealt with any cichlids besides angels and have never seen/dealt with a mated pair. I also thought that German blues and Bolivians couldn't/don't mate..but now I'm wondering could they still pair up? I just find it odd (although very cute!) that they are swimming up and down the sides of the tank with each other, and swimming side by side around the tank. Did they just become buddys? or is something going on..

P.S: I have seen them nipping at my snails..I didn't think they were aggressive or ate snails for that matter. Are they trying to eat them or are they just being territorial?
