is it safe to paint my fish tank background with tile paint with all my livestock inside or will the fumes cause harm?

From a chemical point of view I have no idea, however my instincts wouldn't let me do it in my tank. I spend time trying to keep nasty things out of my tanks, not put them in.

But again, it may be inert and you might get away with it; I wouldn't risk it.

I would imagine that the OP is painting the outside of the tank, not the inside.

If the op could paint the inside with the fish and water back in with out problems ill eat my own foot lol. I don't think fumes will get into the water would they?

Don't paint then, just decorate a background then fasten it against the back of the tank, that's what I've done.

I'd go the painted background or wood then Just attach it. At least you can then change it in future!!!

im gonna have a go at painting it tommorow, ive tried other backgrounds but nothing looks as good as a painted one imo. ill keep the room well ventilated and hope for the best.

i kow you are not going to use it inside but you might still want to look at this ......
