I recently bought some green corydoras. not emerald green, just plain green. i just read that sometimes corydoras are PAINTED! how do i know if mine are painted or not?

You could try searching for images of green corys(or painted corys) and compare them to what yours look like.

I LOVE YOUR USERNAME AND AVATAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and yeah, ill poke around online and see what i can find :)

Oh wow I have never heard of cories to be painted? That's news to me? Has anyone else heard of that before? I myself have cories, but they aren't colorful just the bronze cory, pepperod cory, and a type of pygmy cory.

here is a quote from another site i found, specifically mentioning both bronze and green cories:

"Description: Small, active and peaceful, the Bronze Cory is just one color variation of the same species known as the Green Cory. In addition to color variations of green, bronze, albino, and even black, this species is one of many fish that is sometimes injected with dye to enhance its color. If in doubt, do not purchase any specimens that are suspected of being color dyed. It is also wise to avoid any that have damaged barbels, or those having a sunken belly, which indicates inadequate feeding."

wow thats sad. fish come in so many colors there is not reason to make artificial colors on fish its animal cruilty. what makes me most mad is to see those poor parrot cichlids dyed as being genetically crossbred is bad enough. i would never buy 1 even if it wasnt enjected. but now corys thats just appaling

Indeed; if you can't find a naturally coloured fish that appeals to you, you're in the wrong hobby.
