Can emulsion paint fumes harm my aquarium? If anyone read my previous post they will know that I have lost a large group of Apisto's aswell as a few other's since the weekend. Basically I decorated my sons bedroom 5 days before my fish started dying. No wierd paints or anything just gloss & emulsion. And it just dawned on me that this could be the contaminant? But not sure if 5-6 days later would be too late???
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated

personally, i doubt it very much, i painted the back of my 5 footer with gloss black paint without any fears of fumes.

It's much more likely to be the gloss than the emulsion, unless you used emulsion with lots of antifungal stuff such as a bathroom paint.

We've had a whole load of painting done here, just kept the ventilation up and there were no problems. Did you have any water kicking around, or aquarium kit, near to where the fumes were? Only other question is, did you put your hand in the tank after working with the paints or strippers?
