just wondered as i am now setting up a malawi tank, is it nessacery to have an oxygen pump in the tsnk, i dont have one in my small 35 litre community fish tank but wondered if i would for a bigger malawi 160 litre?

Certainly not neccessary but anything that agitates the surface is good for oxygenating the water. Filter output's and powerheads achieve this more effectively than air pumps and bubbles though. :good:

I took out all of my airlines years ago and brought in power heads. MUCH better look imo, they disappear into the background.
also something to keep in mind, if you plan on over stocking, more air & agitation the better

I love the looks of air bubbles. I have a 18" bar at the back of the tank hiden behind layers of rocks. That air bubbles flow behind the rocks and I just love it.
