Overstocking A 30 Gallon? What Do You Think?

I have a 4ft long with sump, which needs a bit of work plus the house does too.

I was thinking down sizing to a 30 gallon chromis tank for a year or two,(got one for a good price). The only problem is I didn't want to give too many fish away.

I will be putting a sump prob 10 gallon max (whatever fits in the stand).

What does anyone think about:

3 small clown fish 1" to 1.5"
1 Pair Emporer cardinals
2 tiny green rock gobies
1 Lemon Peel Dwarf Angel
(small CLean up crew, snails shrimp hermits etc)

The aquamedic chromis is 55cm cube...

Any comments please?
I'm thinking all these may be a definate NO?

Ohh, i'll help ya - just cos everyone else on this forum is busy water changing probably.

So you want to put,

in a 30g? (With 10 gallon sump) It sounds alright to me.

Dont gobies get agressive when theres the same type are in the same tank? Or am i thinking of something else

Drop one clown off the list because the 2 that pair up will probably end up bullying or killing the 3rd one.

the Dwarf angel should be okay but is very likely to pick at any coral you have, lemon peels are one of the more likely DA's to nip.

Ok so I think 1 clown will have to go when a pair is formed but they are being very slow about it.

Why the cardinals?, they just float about and are quite happy and don't seem to bother other fish or each other.

I will have to keep an eye on the rock gobies, they are tiny but they do fight, at the moment the co-exist and have a territory each on opposites ends of the tank.

The lemonpeel picks at corals, and is a bit of a bully, but such a stunning fish , so i'm not sure, will be so difficult to re-home. (Unless anyone can suggest a yellow stunning alternative in a 55cm cube??)

So I think I will try it and see how it goes, possibly arranging the rockwork in the centre will give the fish a feel of more room.. worth a try...

I may end up building a stand quicker than I thought and going back to the 4 ft...

Hi Sf, yeh MG is a lottery sometimes, they seem to know their stuff tho..

My LFS of choice at the moment has to be Ripples in Telford, (not so Local ), Not the best place for knowledge base but always seem to have something that suprises me, or havn't seen before.

I think it must be a hard game this LFS business coz you have to travel a long way to find a really good one!

i know what u mean its a nightmare relying on other people to give you lifts. just 5 more lessons then goin to book the test
