Overstocked?

Fish that grow large naturally will be stunted in environments that are too small for them. Goldfish, for instance, can grow quite large, and putting them in too small of a tank will stunt their growth. Fish that top out at 3" will not grow much larger normally if they're put in a huge tank by themselves. Yes, there are always exceptions, but if you're picking up fish at a LFS store that uses commercial stocking hatcheries, you'll find the fish are pretty average.

grrr...apparently the link for that image isn't going to work lol. I've tried twice to fix it now. If I find another image I'll host the darn thing on my photobucket and post it :)

So that's a good thing for me, right? (hopeful)

= o Your betta is beautiful!! I used to have a white-bodied one with red tails and fins...unfortunately, she jumped and killed herself. :shout: Thanks for sharing the pictures, I like the fish that's in the first picture and in your icon. What is it? Is it a gourami? (I think that's how you spell it) What are they like?

Bettas can be so sweet sometimes. I absolutely love them. D'aw!! Thanks!

thank you!! i love her! i saw her in the shop and just had to have her :)

yes the gourami is a banded gourami. they are reasonable community fish but the gold, platinum and three spots can tend to be a little grumpy and agressive but this seemed only to happen when there were only a few fish in a big tank. since i have added more fish and have a reasonable size population there are no probs. the banded one is incredibly passive though as are the moonlights, opalines, red honeys and dwarf gouramis.
