 My brother-in-law came to visit recently and before he left he got my daughter some fish. I now have a grand total of 4 swords 3 platy 2 guppy and a cory. All in a 10 gallon tank. This does not include the fry. Now I have to either convince threaten or totally ignore my hubby and get a larger tank. Maybe I can sneak in a 20 or 30 gal in while he's gone for a weekend working and he won't notice :hey: (after all I dyed my hair green and he didn't notice for 2 weeks). As I said aren't in-law-s wonderful. :fun:

thats not that bad in a 10 gallon. technically its a little overstocked but in reality its not bad. ive had much worse in my 10 gallon. ive had 2 swords, 2 platies, 1 dwarf gourami, 2 danios,4 neon tetras, and 2 panda cories in mine before.

more importantly, he didn't notice your hair was green for two weeks???

I'm sure your fish would love you forever if you bought them a fifteen or twenty gallon (and really, they don't take that much more space) but until that day comes, I should think that they'll be okay as long as you keep the water pristine.

Yeah I know. It's not as if the green blended in my hair has this huge white stripe in it and thats what I dyed neon green. Men they're totally oblivious.

Why dont you get a 15 or 20 gal tall? :) They have the same footprint as the 10 but are bigger and I doubt you have to change the filter, heater or anything.

alternatively, if space is an issue, you can just get a better filter. you'll need a more powerful filter anyways if you increase the tank size, but a filter upgrade is a lot less noticable.

Yeah space is an issue it's a really small house. I've been eyeing my storage shed. Its a big 12 x 20 . Wouldnt take much ;insulation, windows cement floor, new door, and wiring. Hey I might even move out there myself to get away from these darn kids.
I think I'm hooked It's my daughter's tank and I have fish in it also. Now one of my sons wants a tank too. Where I'll put that I have no idea. His is the typical 16 year old room crammed full can't swing a mouse never mind a cat. He does have a 2.5 gal and is taking care of the fry now to get him used to keeping fish. A 100 gal sounds great though hmmm. Maybe later when I finish the shed.
