 I have a 30 gallon tank with
3 PLatys
6 neons
3 raspora tetras
1 algae eater
I didn't know if I had too many or I could get a couple more fish. Any suggestions on what to get if I could?
Thanks.

Do you know the correct name for the "aglae eater", because there are tons of fish out there that eat algea. Some stay small and would be fine (ottos) and some will ougrow your tank (common pleco) and some may kill your other fish once it grows (Chinese Aglae Eater)
Depending on the algae eater, you could add more fish. I would suggest you add 3 more rasbora tetras as they are schooling fish. You might want to add some "bottom feeders" to occupy the bottom half of your tank, such as a shoal of cories, or a group of smaller loaches. What gender are your platies? The general rule is 2-3 females to 1 male, so you may need to add more females (enless you have a same-gender group).

The algae eater I am not sure what type. He is beige with brown spots.I have had him about 5 months. He mainly sucks onto the glass or something else. About 2.5 to 3 inch. The platys are 2 females and 1 female.

Does it look like this?

Upload the picture someplace (like photobucket.com) and then post the code in your reply.

Like meg said go to http://www.photobucket.com then post the link on here. Does it look like this http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...hl%3Den%26lr%3D ?

Would you all think my 55g is over stocked, stocked, or under stocked? By the way the pleco has been stunted alittle bit so he probably won't get any bigger than 6" maybe (he is 4"-5" now).

Sorry for hi-jacking your thread brooksie. ;)
Ok I have uploaded the picture onto photobucket.com At the top of this page where it says to insert image do I type in the entire code that photo bucket generated? Photo bucket had 3 different ways to post an image. One was for ebay for instance and another was for message boards. I assume I use that one. Is there an easier way other than writing down the code which is a mile long. Sorry I am such a pain in the you know what. But I am new to all this and I appreciate all your help. Thanks alot.

you use the img one becuase the means it puts the picture there instead of a link!

Thanks!

He might be a pleco!

Thanks!

Thankyou, I guess it was too large. That is my algae eater. Do you know what the name of it is and how much larger he will grow? I have a 30 gallon tank. You can see what I have in my tank on the top one of the posts.

That algae eater is a gibbiceps or sailfin plec - potentially a two foot long fish.
I hope he doesn't grow 2 ft long. I have had him for about 5-6 months. Do stores usually take fish back?Or do I keep him and hope he won't get that large. I like him and he keeps the glass clean.
