Overstocked For A 10 Gallon?

5x African Dwarf Frogs
3x Khuli Loach
1x Dwarf Neon Blue Gourami
1xBristlenose Plecostomus

Not *exactly* overstocked, but perhaps a few changes could make it better technicality-wise. For example, I'd be tempted to scratch the kuhlis (a group that small means you won't see them much, plus there's possible issues with the frogs which are notoriously clumsy eaters) and the BN (size and waste wise) and replace them with a school of tetras or similar, which will make the tank look more active and reduce competition for the frogs (which are the focus of the tank). Or if you'd prefer somewhat less other species, having the frogs (more than 5 would be fine) and a trio of sprakling gouramis or similar.

Revised Idea #2:
5x African Dwarf Frog
2x Neon Blue Dwarf Gourami (a pair)
3x Guppy
2x Panda Cory
1x Bristlenose Plec

Now, I think this is overstocked, but I'm not sure. Should I go with only 1 Cory, or no Gouramis?
I still want some form of flashy fish, so for certain I'm keeping the African Dwarf Frogs and the Guppies. Still unsure about the plec.
What do you think?
Cheers,
GobyMaster

I won't comment on the stocking overall because I know too little about it, but I think panda cories should be kept in larger groups than 2 (more like 5) but I don't know if that is suitable for your tank. and definately don't keep a single cory. ( this doesn't mean I think you should have five, just that the numbers are not suitable to the species,).

Fair point, I never really thought of that. I've seen tons of people's tanks with 3 or less Cories in them, so I just assumed. Oops.
So, scratch the Cories off the list. Any ideas for a clean-up crew? I would suggest crab, but they need land, and the majority of them are brackish or salt water. Maybe 2 or 3 shrimp??
Thanks for the constructive criticism.
Cheers,
GobyMaster

no need for a clean-up crew, but you could get lots of ghost shrimp to eat leftover foods or ammano shrimp to eat algae. i wouldnt get the bn pleco, gets to about 5-6" and is a heavy waste producer.

How about the ADFs, 3 Guppies or a pair of Dwarf Gouramis, and the BN? Thats about 10" of fish (not including the ADFs) and the BN will eat algae and left over food. I find that although a tank may not be overstocked using the inch per gallon guideline, and that you could keep more than an inch per gallon with upgraded filtration, that a tank can be too busy to be pleasurable to watch.

Andy :)

How about up the number of adf's to say 7, and then just keep 1 or 2 dwarf gouramis, clean up crews are'nt really necesary, just dont overfeed.

I like that idea, jkrekord, but I really want to try out guppies, as I've never had them before.
So, maybe instead of gouramis, have this:
7x African Dwarf Frog
2x Guppy
No clean-up crew.
How's that?
Then maybe if the algae gets bad, I could add an Ammano shrimp.
Cheers,
GobyMaster

do you want mixed sex guppies?
if you do then i'd go 1 male 2/3 female otherwise you could have 5 male
