Overhead Built In Filter

We got r tank of ebay and thet filter is on the hood. Now as i said in my other im completly clueless to this. lol

The filter is comfusiing me as it has 4 part that can fit the media. Does that mean that we need to get 4 filter media? I was only sent 4 (2 with larger holes and 2 with fines holes? I also had 4 plastic bits that im not sure if that go above the media or below the media? Also do i 1 big holed and 1 small holed media together and only use 2 of the spaces? mmmmmmm im so confused and mybe i should take a pic and show u

My girlfriend has a filter that is built into the hood. There is a pipe that runs down the inside of the tank and then sucks the water up into another pipe that has tiny holes in it. This water then trickles onto the media in one tray and any overflow trickles into the second tray and then through a hole back into the tank.

I think your suggestion of pictures would help a lot in resolving your issue.
