Overflow W/ Bio-balls? ( Fresh Water )

Leaving saltwater and going back to fresh water. I have a 110gal wide tank with an over flow.
Wondering if I should plug the overflow or possibly use it with a sump and bio-balls.
I would be using this in conjunction with a couple of Aqua Clear 110's.

Welcome to the other side BlueLagoon.
Although we seldom use a sump on a freshwater tank, it is not because there is anything wrong with one. It is because we usually don't really need one. There are also few freshwater people who understand the mechanics of setting one up. The choice is yours but the typical FW answer would be to use the sump as another separate tank.
