Overflow Box

i i just set up a sump on my glass tank. and i need a design for a hang on the back overflow box that doesnt use a syphon to get the water around. any ideas?

I have a 2 tank setup.  4ft on top and 3ft on the bottom.
 

 
Only wanted to have 1 heater and 1 filter.
 
So, my Canister filter CF1000 pulls water from the bottom tank, and feeds it to the top tank.
 
HOB Setup as pictures below, is used to move water back to lower tank.
 

 
 
The red circle indicates the vent (Kind of like a chimney) which makes the HOB system NOT a Siphon.
It you were to Cap this pipe, you would have a Siphon.
 
Cost about £10 from B&Q

• 10 x 90 degree Elbow 32mm, Pushfit
• 1 x Tee 32mm pushfit
• 1 x 2m 32mm push fit Pipe

Just bought mine, and took about 1 hour to set up including making the wooden bracket to hold the pipes.
I just put a Black Plant basket on the inlet so that nothing would go through the system that I didnt want.

What size of pipe should I use for a 55 gallon tank?

One thing I will say is that PLEASE make sure you use a bigger pipe for the HOB that you use on your Powerhead.
 
My rule of thumb is 2 x the size.
So, my filter pushes water through a 16mm pipe, so my PVC Hob is 32mm.
