I am concerned that I have massively overstocked my 12-13 Gallon fish tank I currently have
1 giant danio, 3 platies, 1 glass catfish, 1 peppered cory, 1 leopard botia about 5 cm long

I wouldn't say massively, but yes it is overstocked. Giant Danios are temperate fish, not tropical, and need groups of 6+. All cories also need to be in 6+ groups.

just to add to the top post glass catfish are schooling fish and need a school of 6 also.

Ok judging by what you have said I should either remove the giant danio or get a bigger tank?

hmm youd probaly need to get a bigger tank if you want to keep most of them and have the right schools size.

keep in mind the botias also need groups of 6 or more.

The loach will also get to about 15cm when it's fully grown.

Unfortunately all of the fish except for the platies need a much larger tank and number of at least 6 in their respective species. The glass catfish especially need a bigger tank and much bigger number of its own kind.

I'd even say the platies won't cut it in that tank either if you want them to grow to potential and be healthy(honestly, they can grow to around 7cm if given the chance in life). I would seriously think about a bigger tank. You will be pleased eventually

Adult platies below. Compare to the size of the male adult cory in front of them and not so small clown loaches. The small baby platy to the right of the clown loach is the size they sell them in fish shops.

Ok so I've decided I will upgrade to a bigger 250 litre tank, is this enough?

250 litres will not really be adequate for a minimum of 6 of each of your listed fish types although am unfamiliar with Leopard Botia, is this like a Polka Dot Loach?

If so, then its still a no, 250 litre is still not enough IMO, but exact numbers am not too sure, someone on this forum for sure can give you more accurate stocking numbers. (this is dependant on the dimensions of your planned tank)

Removing the Leopard Botias ( if are Polka Dot Loach) may be ok but still pretty well fully stocked though and would need to do at least 35% water changes minimum per week, in a 250 litre tank, thats a lot of buckets!!

Do note if you are not already aware Giant Danios may be jumpers, so ensure you have a lid on your tank.
Also Platys, would say 1 male to at least 2 females, ratio 1:2+ (M:F) to avoid potential problems.

Have to say am still pretty much a newbie so don't take my word for this, this is just my opinion.

Wait for someone with more experience to give a better answer!

Wait what.. At first you were saying it was acceptable size tank but then suddenly it's not and IMO I won't have shoals of 6 for each..

YOU NEED 6 EACH OR ELSE!!!! do you care about your fish? 5 would be acceptable and ch4rlie was right loaches need more room.

Apologies, I made a mistake on first unedited post, I mistakenly put down 350 litres not 250. My mistake.

But I still stand at my corrected post. Your 250 tank will NOT accommodate ALL your chosen fish on your first post if you put in at least 6 of each, simply overstocked.

Some compromise would have to be done and loaches do need a large tank, 250 is not large enough am afraid to include loaches

But you can have at least 6 of each of the other chosen fish, but that pretty much fully stocked and large water changes would need to be made each week as they will deposit a lot of poop! Simply put really.

Still would make a pretty stunning tank though with these choices

Ok since we last spoke I have relocated my danio and botia to a better home do I will not be getting a shoal of 6 of them as they would grow too large.
So I had a look around on the smaller side and I was wondering how 6 marbled hatchetfish would do with a shoal of glasscatfish
