Over Filtering?

I was curious if it is possible to over filter a tank. Mine are currently set up as follows

55 gallon community tank- 2 marineland penguin 350 filters
55 gallon cichlid tank- 1 90 gal rated aqueon filter
75 gallon - fluval c4 and a marineland penguin 350

I would think it would be good to filter high in case you over crowd the tank. My community tank is all livebearers and is always a little over crowded. Just thaught I would ask.

you can have too much flow - this is easy to spot because your fish will be spinning round the tank pressed up against the glass like they're in a washing machine.

You really can't 'over-filter'. The more filter media you have the more debris you'll catch out of the water. The more flow through that media you have the healthier and more robust your bacteria colonies will be.

They seem to be okay with the flow in each tank. Everyone swims arund fine and does not look like they are fighting the current. Thanks for the answer.

Would it be good to get an external filter in addition to my internal filter and gravel filters?
