Some of you may remember awhile back our threesome doing their baby making thing  Well, here is the end result and we haven't lost one. We have made arrangements with the lfs to take most of them, we will keep just three. Thanks again to Tolak, we couldn't have done it without all your great advice.

Impressive. Impressive that you know there are 72 Angels especially to me who cannot count over 20 or so fish that moving. After around 20, it is "a school or shoal" of fish to me.
I just saw my little tiny Gold Ram pair are laying eggs. All the places in the tank. They pick the plastic part of top of the sponge filter. And those eggs are so small and placed no gaps in between the eggs. I have no clue how many there are. Not to mention the plastic is white and the eggs are clear white.
This is their 2nd try, 1st try the female re-cycled on 2nd day. I am hoping I can get some swarm of frys around the parents.

Anyway, it looks you are doing great job with your Angels. Keep up the good work.

We are so proud. We know it is 72 because we counted when we moved them out of the 10 gallon into the now bigger tank. The custom background is courtesey of our 2 daughters who are 8 & 10, they wanted to make something special for the new babies. Unfortunatly, while we haven't lost any, we do have a few that are starting to show signs of deformity, i.e double anal fins, one who only swims on his side, etc. All in all, the number will be closer to 65 I think. But, for the most part, they are all doing great. The culling will be the tough part, especially for my 8 year old, she thinks we should give all creatures a chance, she doesn't quite get the concept so it will be hard for her. Needless to say, we are trying to do that part of things without her knowledge.

Very cute indeed  .. 72 thats an impressive amount, and you must have done an excellent job not to lose any.. :D x
you do know that angels average at 400 per spawn right? i'm having trouble with 200 odd per batch.

good job in breeding the angels LaurieLou :good:

There were more eggs in the beginning, when they were first laid, one of our other angels apparently figured it was snack time and ate alot. We transfered the eggs as quickly as possible to a 10 gallon tank, but Spike was too quick for us. And then some of those eggs got fungased, we lost about 15 that way. So, the 72 came about after they hatched. I will say however, that we were completely anal when it came to water changes and brine shrimp feedings. We had two hatcheries going in the kitchen and the water changes were everyday and so were the bottom cleanings. If I didn't work from home and if my husband wasn't so obsessed with these fish, I think we would have lost some actually, just due to the time involved. In the beginning, we were spending 3 hours a night dealing with these guys. Thank goodness it has calmed down, now my hubby can take me out to dinner instead of focusing on the fish
