Ottos...

I actuall used the little suction cup hooks for a while. They worked fine. If you look in a department type store such as a Walmart or Target in the states (don't know what store it would be over there) you should be albe to find some clips with suction cups on them in the housewares section.

Thanks rdd, I do have a similar suction cup hook. But how do I attach the cucumber/courgette to it?

I sliced the cucumbers across so that they were only a 1/4" or so thick and then just stuck the hook through them. Even if you do strips, you should be able to stick the hook in it so that it will hang.

Thanks rdd :) I'll give that a try and see how it goes. They don't look like very happy ottos at the moment. Thanks for all the help :good:

Well, I used a suction cup hook and attached a piece of courgette. I put the courgette in the microwave for about 30 seconds and then popped it into the tank. I believe the fishes like the mushy texture. The ottos didn't touch it for around 3-4 hours. However, before going to bed around midnight I noticed both the ottos were stuck to the courgette. This morning they were again on the glass. Do you have any idea how long I should leave that courgette for before I take it out? Also, is it a good idea to put the courgette in the microwave?

At least it is a step further and the ottos are actually noticing the courgette and nibbling on it :good:

sure it's fine to microwave it, it's often recommended to blanch veggies to soften them before they go in the tank

it'll start to disintegrate after maybe 24/48hrs so remove it before it does or it'll mank up your water.

Thanks Miss Wiggle, I'll keep an eye on the courgette and take it off maybe tomorrow morning. Thanks for the help :good:
