As in my other post, big mama (my black guppy) gave birth early this morning, I just found another fry but it's see thru! Surely that cannot be her baby??? She's black all over! My swordtail was preggo and I found her dead this morning, maybe she died giving birth?? What do you think? I have no idea what kind of fry this is....

well the father of the mollie may have been a different colour. Have heard sometimes black mollies don't show their colour at first, so don't worry :)

Phew,! Ok, it just startled me cuz I thought it would have been black like the big mama is! Lol
It's really weird though, its smaller than the other baby fry, is that normal?

oh, well it can't be a molly then. Molly have the biggest fry of all the common livebearers. What other livebearers have you got in your tank?

I have a female guppy and swordtail (swordtail died last night though) The guppy doesnt look to pregnant, although I do see a gravid spot, and the swordtail looked like she was getting bigger but not big enough to give birth... If she was and I didn't know, do you think she died after she gave birth? Cuz I woke up this morning and she was dead. After that I found a baby...

Guppies are always pregnant so we have to rule that out for now. Could be a swordtail though. She must have been stressed out and died after birth. But just to be sure..test your water to look for any other possible signs of death.

Oh No!
Here's the results:
Nitrite: .50 ppm
Nitrate: 40
pH: 6.6
Ammonia: 0 ppm

I just did a partial waterchange what do you think?

Are these results before the water change? If not, you need to do another 50% ASAP.

I did the results, then I did a waterchange about 25%... is that ok?? All the other fish seem fine? And I just did a water change like 4-5 days ago and everything was fine

To be honest, I would do a larger water change...If you did a 50% change your Nitrite would still be at dangerous levels (.25). I'd do like a 75% change and retest in a few hours. If you are still showing Nitrite, do another 50%. How long has the tank been set up?

It's been set up for about 2-3 years already, this is the first time the nitrites have been high -_-
My molly just had babies early this morning, could that do something to the nitrites?

I wouldn't think giving birth would have anything to do with it. Have you done anything different? Did you change/clean filter cartridges recently?
