I have a 55 gallon tank with several assorted malawi cichlids i also have 2 small oscars in a 20 gallon and they are steadily growing. Is it possible to put the oscars and the cichlids in the 55 together and survive without killing each other?

A 55 would be too little for a single oscar, and for a pair, and other cichlids it would definitely be too small.

75 Gallons is the minimum recommended size for a single oscar.

I understand but they are babies no more then 2 inchs they are out growing the 20 and i plan on buying a new tank but for the time being can i put them in with the cichlids should the cichlids come out what should i do?

Depends on the cichlids...

I would doubt they will all get along, but it may happen.
And if you are getting a new tank, try and get it ASAP, as oscars are fast growers... being kept in the right size aquarium that is. So if you want to keep both oscars, at a minimum your looking at a 100 gallon tank.

Yeah, Any ideas on cheap tanks should i look second hand? I have the 55 gallon second hand for free but im willing to spend up to 350 for a new tank for the oscars too little?? Can i get something with that money?

I would expect an Osacr to struggle to cope with Malawi aggression while they are the same size or smaller than the Malawi's (depending on what you have but most would fall into this category, especially mbuna). If the Oscar is much bigger than the Mbuna, the tables could well be turned.

Might be OK for a short time if you are desperate but i wouldn't reccommend it. They would be better in the 20 gal until you can find a suitable home for them.

I had a big very nice Red Oscar in with my africans and after he killed a couple I had to get rid of him. Don't mix them.

Umm is that just for the tank?

If so , you can get a 75 for that, prolly bigger depending on where you live.
If for filters and lights gravel decor and food ect. i doubt it, unless alot is second hand
