So, it has been mentioned that I should rehome two of my fish, a common pleco and a clown loach. I was thinking that if my LFS won't take a trade or buy them from me I could put them at work.

At work we have a 105 gallon tank that houses 3 oscars, a few cichlids, one cory, a few zebra danios, and one fish that I don't know what he is (he is silver with all orange fins and big, anyone have any ideas? he's my favorite)

Would my loach and pleco get along in this tank? It is serviced by a professional aquarium...guy.

I also thought I could take the danios and cory out of there (as you can imagine, the oscars have eaten them) and possibly the cichlids. Do oscars eat cichlids? They are smaller ones.

Of course, if I put my loach in there, we would buy two or three more for the tank.

(edit for cichlids)

Tank size would be lovely for the clowns and plec. Three oscars though? must be a pretty big nightmare, a breeding pair at most should be kept in that size tank (Oscars are also chiclids by the way).

IMO the danio and cory SHOULD be taken out of there and housed in a suitable sized tank with enough of the same species to make groups. The silver and orange fish I cant comment on as I dont know what it might be. Do you know what the other chiclids are?

Jon

Let's see, I'm trying to find some photos that look like the ones at work. One that looks similar to some is the orange chromide, others are yellow, like the lemon cichlid, but aren't the same shape.

They are either white or yellow in color, all about similar in size (though I think the white ones are a little bigger) and I think some of them may be crossbred? There have been some that were both yellow and white.

Some look a bit like this, with shorter fins? below the head

here's another one:

In fact, the white ones look like faded zebra cichlids, but how big do those get?

I will be taking the danios and cory out of the tank...who cares what the boss says right? She's not a fish person anyways

hmm by what uve said about the big silver fish.... it sounds like a tinfoil barb... but the pics dont come close so

oh no, those were the cichlids from the tank, not the silver fish with orange fins. Yes, I do think he looks barb-like, but still haven't found a photo that looks like him

*googles Tinfoil Barb* viola!

It is a tinfoil barb!

thanks!

Yes, a minimum of three. They're notorious for being "tank-busters." Grow to adult size (12-14") relatively quickly and easily.

arent tinfoil barbs meant to be kept in groups?
yeah, so it says. Too bad I didn't set the tank up.

I think I'm gonna be commandeering it from now on though.
