can u mix oscars with parrots???? permanantly i mean....??? what other fish can u put with them?? any malawis?? please let me know

james

malawis need different water as well really btw i'm not sure but oscars need about a pH of 7.2 and most malawis about a pH of 8.1 but i'm not sure also oscars like lots of swimming room whereas malawis well most of them(mbuna) like lots of dnese rocky areas for terrortiy.

parrots can be kept with oscars but there maybe problems with bullying sometimes.

and as said you need a big tank to keep other fish with oscars.

:good:

i have my large oscar with my 2 parrots they dont bother each other ,, its the 2 parrots that have a nib at each other even though they are best friends ,,
i personally think that cichlids can have a good go at each other but it depends who they accept in the tank with them ......
if i was to put any other cichlid in there tank now they would probley gang up on it and kill it ,,
them 3 are best friends ,,,,,,,

2 6" oscars with 1 7" a 8" n a 5" bp also a FRONTOSA 4"
they al lget on good, they had a green terror 6" as a tankmate but he got battered so i moved him.

The first thing that should have been asked is ''what size tank are we talking''

Then people can start giving advice.. s/he could be talking about a 33g tank.

I suggest not putting anything with them.I have 3 oscars, the smallest 8 inchs and the biggest is about 12 inchs. And it seems like all the fish i try to put in with them(including very large tinfoil barbs) just get ate.
I just came to the conclusion that they are better off without anyone else..

I have an oscar with a parrot fish and a pair of firemouths, the oscar doesn't seem to bother any of them at all. BUT chiclids are renowned for having they're own personalities, my Oscar is pretty docile so I've never had issues with bullying from him, some Oscars can be loads more aggresive and really need to be by themselves in a massive tank. Best bet if your dead set on an Oscar is to get whatever you want as a tankmate and put them in the tank first (making sure you have somewhere you can re-home them if nescessary) then add ther Oscar after and keep a v close eye on they're personalities and what's going on. You can have rules of thumb for tankmates but a lot of it comes down to the individual fish :)

IM NOT PLANNING ON GETTING ANYTHING JUST YET I JUST SAW A PIC WITH AN OSCAR AND SOME PARROTS N WAS SUPRISED SO I THOUGHT I WOULD ASK. CHEERS FOR YOU COMMENST ANYWAY GUYS
