i have a 5 in. oscar that lives with many many convicts and they get along fine.
no fin damages and the convicts are only 2 in. BIG!
they've been to gether for 6 months.

6 months and they are only 2 inches? they seem to be very small for the time you have had them. I doubt the peace will last though. Im expecting a rather interesting war to ensue fairly soon, once your very small fish grow up.

Your convict cichlids must be stunted, unless you are mistaken with their size.
What size tank are they in ?

wow all of you are wrong yes convicts could fight the oscar but an oscar is tuff so he will be fine.the minnium tank size for one oscar is a 30 gallon.
i have nothing to say but.... HAHAHAHAHA! do you believe everything you read on the internet???

30 freaking gallons???
are you joking.
30 gallns for a baby maybe
but adult?
he would probaby die
Mines in a 55 gallon, hes still a baby, but know i have to upgrade
I have seen a full grown oscar in a 10 gallon tank sadly

You can safley fit 1 adult size oscar in a 55g tank. The convict's will kill the oscar, baby or adult. The truth is, most oscars are softies!!!!!!!!! I wouldnt do it. Would you rather have the oscar you like get put to a good home, or destoyed from convict's? Convicts are dead aggressive.
thats not true at allll!!!! a full grown oscar can obtain a length of 16". it is more common to see them reach about 12" in the hobby. if you didnt know, a 55g foot print has a 12" width. that gives the fish almost no room to turn around. a 75g is the bare minimum for 1 oscar, a 120 for a pair and so on...

Well as advised on here, they told me i could put 1 oscar in a 55g for life. Also, most website's)( except for the one grimmy posted) say that 55g is a minnimum for a adult oscar.

Yea... I had two oscars that were about 4 inches in a 108 gallon tank, I tried to put a convict in there... the fight was on. I never saw a little fish stand his ground so good! He was only about 1 inch, and he decided that the whole tank was his! I had to scoop him out of there and put him into a 10 gallon tank till I could find him a new home.
The pet store told me that he would be fine in there, but they were wrong. It was a shame cause he was a beautiful fish, My O's are total softies so there was no way it was going to work out.
