I had my 6ft upgrade plans changed and i have now got a 5ft ( 114US gallons)

I have a few cichlids at present:

2 Firemouths
1 Golden Sev
1 Blue Acara
1 Convict

Is it possible to house a tiger oscar or any oscar with this mix?

Used to have an oscar and they are just awesome fish.....

If i could have one in there would there be any other space for dithers (silver dollars?)

Also would TB's work?

So long as the FM's and Acara are large enough, then I dont see a problem in theory, although its going to depend on the temprement of the Oscar. All those cichlids are robust enough to stand up to it and adding a young Oscar is your best chance. It may become a little crowded though once the Oscar and Severum are full grown. You will need very good filtration as well.

I wouldnt add dithers as I dont think you have enough space and SD's can reach a very large/round 6"+.

Edit: TB's would most likely become snacks for the Oscar too, even full grown ones.

Hmmm Maybe it would be best not to then.....

I am just doing my new tank and want to have some nice colourful fish with big personalities...

What would you suggest as i say i have:

2 Firemouths
1 Blue Acara
1 Convict
1 Golden Sev

Cichlid wise, you could have a Nicaraguan cichld, although the females can be pretty feisty, maybe some geophagus species - tapajos, surinamensis perhaps. You could have another colour severum.

Dithers, I use rainbowfish, but you could have the SD's or Tiger barbs you like if your not having the Oscar.
