I have a 5 inch Oscar and about 3 weeks ago noticed the tip of his right pelvic fin is gone. The left side seems undamaged.

You can see the extension of the left fin. My question is: will this extra length grow back on the right fin? or is it gone for good?

Thanks

There is a chance it got caught on some decor or do you have any nippy fish in with the Oscar?

With good water changes, it should grow back, Oscars are prone to injuring themselves on sharp decor, hoods etc and 9 times outta 10, they heal perfectly well.

He looks BEUTIFUL!

and Yep

clean water will regrow he's fin back in no time :good:

i duuno if its been damaged or not actually.. they kinda grow out of them.. mine as babys all had them but as soon as they started growing they lost them and they didnt grow back... but water changes as mags says wont do any harm

He is kept with a 2 inch Jack Dempsey and a 3 inch Firemouth, both respect the hell out of the Oscar lol. The JD shadows the Oscar around sometimes but eventually gets chased off. There was a time i notice a little scale damage on the top of the Oscars head, but it healed up very quickly, i assumed he scraped it on the edge of a rock.

I hope it grows back Shelaghfishface, i really like the way they look lol.

Thanks for all the replies, i've been keeping the water nice and clean. :good:
