Oscar In Trouble!

My oscar Has been Having problems with his gill! This is an Ergent Question!
As u know Oscars have to gills one on each side. The gill on the left side of my oscar doesnt work! I need to know Y this is happening otherwise he'll die! Please help All answers appreciated. crazy.
Now that one gill doesnt work The other has to work twice as hard. Also he is laying on the bottom! Please help!

Hi, welcome to the forum,

It would help to know how big is the tank, how long has it been set up (is it cycled), what other fish is it in with, what are your readings for ammonia, nitrIte, nitrAte and pH, how long has it been like this?
