Hello all,
One of my Oscars he is a long finned Tiger tends to lay on the ground and tan up and have zero movement. My immediate assumption is that he is attempting to look like debris to eat my Giant Danios which he has failed to do. Question is, Do Oscars exhibit this hunting behavior?

It may be because of his long fins, it is much harder for them to swim, so they need to rest often

My regular fin tiger Oscar would do this sometimes, I never really understood why he did that but Whenever he did that he was probably just resting. He would have feeder fish swim by his face and he wouldn’t even look at them.

Mine have done this after eating and while sleeping.

I highly doubt this is hunting behavior.

They are nice looking fish. I also have never seen them hunt like that, actually I suppose you could call it ambushing instead. ;) I do remember them laying on their sides once in awhile. They were a friends fish and I thought he was dead the first time I saw it.

Really have grown to love these Oscar’s, never seen a fish constantly full of personality
