Hello I'm new my names Raychel and I have a few cichlids and bettas , and a pleco.
So my Oscar , Peaches , suddenly has been acting weird and his eyes started bulging yesterday both eyes and he won't eat...
any ideas is it the water quality ? I have him in a 45 gallon waterfall tank . Along with a Polar Parrot cichlid and my pleco.
Peaches is the oldest but not full adult and the polar parrot his name is Penguin , he's a baby / teenager and they have lived together for 2 months fine and the pleco Jack is fine as well.

I was looking to upgrade the tank a bit bigger as Peaches and Penguin and Jack are all still growing but they are fine until Peaches the last 2 days..... really worried don't wanna lose him / her , is an orange Oscar gorgeous I'll post photos, wanted to enter him in the contests but he looks rough right now so need to get him better ASAP :(
think it's a male but originally thought female so Peaches is the name regardless haha. . Had him since he was a baby.

Most likely, it's a bacterial infection in the head/sinus area. Usually, that connects to a water issue, altogether possible with a pleco and a polar with an oscar in that sized tank. You didn't mention any water change routine, or how you do basic needed maintenance. You need a 40-50% water change every week with those fish...

You can try an antibiotic treatment, and hopefully an experienced aquarist from a country that allows them over the counter can check in and offer an educated guess. Different antibiotics work on different infections, just like with humans. Your water hardness can also influence what meds to use, as can your pH. I can't make any suggestions there.

Hopefully, with aggressive water changes, and meds if you can get them in time, he/she'll recover.

The moment you see something questionable that isn't a parasite like ich, do a 50% water change. Never take time on that. Then keep doing them a couple of times a week for a few weeks, while you prep a large tank for him, if you can.
