oscar and severum?

i have a 4.5" in oscar in a 90g tank....and she needs company...so i bought a baby oscar but he is too small (already tried him in the tank) and she went for him...he is in a growout tank now, but now he's lonely and i wanted to get a smaller fish for him to play with. Could 2 small oscars and a severum be ok in a 90g? or is there another fish, such as a firemouth, that would be a better choice?

I think the 90g would be OK for 2 Oscars, but if one has already started to go for the other, then you may have problems introducing them together. try rearranging the tank decor to confuse the Oscare that is already in there into thinking it's somewhere new!!
As for a severum, I think you'd be pushing the limits of that tank. Have you thought about any non-cichlid fish? you may have territory issues with 2 Oscars and other cichlids.

well i've heard about putting silver dollars with them....but i dont really like them? so any ideas then?

I have Balas in with mine, but they need lots of space as they grow up to about 1 foot!! You caould try some catfish. I have a lima shovelnose as well, probably a bit big for your tank, but if you ask in the catfish forum, I'm sure there are some really nice species that would go well with Oscars.

You will have difficulty adding any other Cichlids to the tank now that the original Oscar has established the tank as its territory, if you want to keep pairs of large Cichlids you need to add them both at the same time and prefferably in a group so you can allow a pair to form naturally and then return the rest. The chances are that you will never be able to keep your two oscars in the same tank without a divider in place.

well i was going to rearrange the tank and i'm moving the tank into another room, so maybe she will think it's a new place...i've already had the smaller oscar in her tank, they were fine together, i was just worried that because he's so, much smaller, that i'd wake up and he wasnt in the tank!
