I have had this yabby for a while now, well since April this year. When I got it, it was barely bigger than a shrimp, infact some of the native shrimp I also got where bigger than it.
I call it she but that is just a guess, She is a dwarf species of yabby, crawtchie and should only grow to the maximum size of 9cm.
She has started to develop a lovely pale blush of purple on her sides which is hard to capture in a photograph.
Also hopefully soon I will be getting 2 or 3 more of these great yabbies so that I can have a crack at breeding them.

Thanks, I would never have thought a yabby could be cute, but this little one actually is. And a much better aquarium option than the usually sold red claw yabbies which get huge and destroy all plants.

My Yabby has some new companions now, they arrived last week from Tropical North Queensland and are settling in well

Here is my original yabby (when she/he was just a wee little thing)

And currently

The new Boy (dwarves the other two yabbies)

And the baby of the trio

The original yabby already had a small macro living in the tank, which is still in there and I have also added some wild colouration cherry shrimp to see if they can co-exist in the same tank. I know where I got the yabby from the water was thick with one species of shrimp, but a natural water course and a tank are vastly different.

Great pics and great looking yabbies.  Love those robust claws and natural colors.

Thanks, they are great little yabbies, not highly active but still interesting to watch when they do decide to rearrange the furniture
