I'm not sure if this subject has been raised before (sorry in advance if it has) .....

BUT.............There are so many products available for conditioning / boosting the filtration system of the tank

I have a few bottles in mind:

PRIME
API stress coat
Nutrafin cycle
Nutrafin aqua plus tap water conditioner

Do these actually do the job?

PRIME and Nutrafin Aqua Plus are not marketed as filter boosters to my knowledge - they perform the job of removing chlorine/chloramine and nutrifying (if that's the correct word) heavy metal content.

Most of the booster products are frowned on as there seems to be very little concrete evidence that they actually work.

definitely get a tap water condition I use APIs as for the filter and cycle aids I wouldn't bother wasting your money. I had some for free and like so many other people I received no useful effects from it.

Your right, nutrafin aqua plus is a water dechlorinater. I use it with my tanks but it doesn't last long so iv just ordered a 500ml bottle of seachem prime :)

I use nutrafin on my small tanks and prime on my 5 footer. mainly because i wouldnt be able to measure out prime accurately enough for the small 35 litre tanks without an over dose and wasting it. Unless i fannied around with an accurate measuring sucky doda thingybob, which i cant be bothered with. :D
