Ok just got our new tank, and planted it. (got a bit of bacterial bloom so ignore that ;) ) - what do you think? The plants are looking a bit dodgy in places but ive started tpn+, and the BBA has gone now thanks to flourish excel :) So hopefully they'll pick up soon.
Anyway - i still need more, especially at the back. Should i stick with vallis? Just let it grow? (there are loads of new runners/seedlings). Or should i get something else? Was wondering about some red plants too, to add some depth.

Any opinions?

I think it looks really nice to be honest. Yes it may look a little bit sparse at the moment but once the plants start to grow and thicken up it'll be even better.
Up to you whether you add some red in there, I personally think it looks nice without.

I guess some of us strive to have our tanks looking as perfect as we can in the shortest time, I'm one of the guiltiest for that
I reckon with a little bit of patience you're going to end up happy with the way you've planted it :good:

Red Cabomba and Red Myriophylum would look great in there. :) Great looking tank tho.

aww thanks guys! the sword doesnt look so big in real life lol! once i get an external going that'll be much better. get a new black background on too. tbh i dont really care about it looking perfect straight away (good job  ), but i dont wanna disturb the plants any more than i have to. i think a nice big bit of bogwood where the small pieces are would look pretty good. the log thing i'll be keeping coz thats where all the corys sleep
the fish seem to really like it, so thats cool :)

i think i'd like something with a bit more structure, iykwim. i already have cabomba and hornwort in both my tanks, and i think more of the same/similar would leave me a bit bored, for want of a better word :/

Rotala is so cheap on java-plants.com like £1.50 for 5 long stems and it grows so quick, I bought 5 stems and now have about 15 planted from trimming.

bargain! thanks for that :good:

Alternanthera reineckii, Roseafolia. This is growing well for me with no extra special care :good:

yeah i tried some of that when i first got the tank, but it withered away within weeks  wonder if its coz we have hard water?

Hardwater shouldnt matter so long as nutrients, CO2 and flow are up to scratch.

Looks good to me. And you call that a bacterial bloom. You aren't trying hard enough. lol I've had milk for water before.
