What does it look like turned the other way around? I think it might look more natural - like mangrove roots or something - because the way it is at the moment, you can see how the wood was cut at the ends. Just an idea though, you may have already tried it or it may not stand up that way. :dunno: It's a nice piece of wood though. :good:

i agree turn it upside down so it looks less like hand and more like roots of a tree. will make it more fun for the fish to swim in between tooo :good:

Nice tank, Upsidedown is the best IMO, looks very natural, i want a piece of wood like that :D

i think it looks good how it was first, but if you'd tied some moss on the ends so that you cant see the cut. :good:

Wow! It looks really good both ways. The original way opens the tank up and makes it look more spacious, but the second way looks more like a natural root system - it's just down to what you prefer now. :good: And the moss idea is good with whatever way you decide. Very nice!

i know its been a while but if you cut that down so the background plants are just a little above the wood, thad be the "proper" way of doing it i guess. sticking to the smaller things up front to bigger at the back rule

Nice piece of wood & tidy set up you have there :good:

What I would do though to make it look more natural is physically snap off the 'hand cut' branches. By this I mean snap them off roughly in a vice or at least mash them with a hammer if you don't have a vice. This take away that 'hand cut' look.

All the best.

IMO it looks best in the first picture, with the branches reaching up the the surface

yeah i prefer it in the first pic, only problem is the way it's been cut doesn't look v natural, i agree that growing some moss on the ends would look nice and also if you moved the plants around it a bit more so it's partially hidden it would look mroe natural
