Well, I'm plannign a funky tank for downstairs to look at my large FW setup.

The plan is a dual setup with a 3x2x2 and moving my current reef to a longer tank and having some large sump setup with DSB and macroalgae together with a large skimmer. This will be a connected system with the reef and the 3x2x2 draining to the sump.

The reef will be pretty heavy on the LR as the 3x2x2 will be mostly open sand. The plan is to keep 2 or 3 Ogcocephalus parvus (Roughback Batfish):

Or else Halieutichthys aculeatus (pancake batfish):

Then I plan a small shoal of Cleidopus gloriamaris (pineapple fish):

With a small pile of Live Rock in each corner for these fish to hang out in, maybe even have a small amount running across the back.

I am basically looking for ideas of other fish to go in there with them. I am thinking of either something a little flashy as a show fish (such as a Dendrochirus biocelatus (fumanchu lionfish)) or else a small shoaling fish.

Any thoughts people?

Sadly the pineapple fish are coming in at around £100 per fish, so I think they are off the list.

I'm now split on whether to do a couple of batfish with a small shoal and a small lion, or to do a larger pred tank including hind, dragon wrasse, lion and possibly puffer.

Hmm, decisions decisions. On the plus side the tank has grown to a 4x2x2 now.

Hey, if you can get them and afford them, plenty of people have big pred tanks but not everyone keeps the contents of a KFC Bargain Bucket. And there are some pretty cool and unusual shoalers (although... according to one of the PFK articles, fuzzy dwarf lions group together some what...). A 4x2x2 can't hold anything overly massive large pred wise, or a large number of them either.
