My female opaline gourami needs a new tank mate(s) due to my indian dying. should i pair her with a male? or get another female - or 1 of each...

thanks :/

For the sake of having a peaceful aquarium, I would be inclined to stick with females if possible. Males of this species tend to be aggressive toward each other and lone females. If you really want a male then make sure your ratio with females is around 3:1 in favour of females.

Hi Gavilb :)

Gouramis do fine by themselves and unless you have a large tank, with plenty of plants and other places for your female to hide, you might be better off if you just keep one. Even then, since male gouramis tend to be disruptive, you might consider getting another female.

As far as appearance goes, there coloration is the same. The only difference is that the male has slightly longer fins. :D
