Oops, I Have Betta Babies

Could I ask what the parents are in tail variety and color? If you seek to adopt out any survivors I might be interested in taking in a male or a couple females when they're old enough to be safely shipped :3

#92###, I hate it when people try to sell their opinions as fact.

I met a guy at my local PetCo who has a 180 gallon rectangle tank with about 20 betta fish in it, males and females. They're all mature enough that they look just like the ones you buy in the cups at the LPS.

Even the parents are still in the tank.

I thought it was commonly known that betta fish raises in the same tank from the same spawn get along better than two randoms thrown together.

babies are too small for the pictures lol

Some good and bad news,

I wouldsay that the breeding went sucessfully, there were not a huge amount of eggs as the female started eating them, around 20-30 eggs.

From that I have 5 babies at the 4 week stage (0.4-0.5cm), At the moment feeding them is a problem, I don't have a Brine hatchery as last time I tried it didnt work (I tried to feed them yeast but put way too much)

I have been hit by severe asthma, been very ill for 4 weeks, not left the house in that time ive been housebound, the cold arctic air in the UK is causing me to cough alot, so my fish have been neglected but have hung on with me

The process which is stopping my from harvest is when they hatch, I have no method to catch them, I have a fine net but they seem to go through it, all other guides use some complicated method with no pictures which does not help involved air tubing coming from the cap.

Im going to give it another go today and see what happens. at the moment babies are eating finely crushed tetramin flake.

Well thats the bad/good news.

Some other things, The female is nice and healthy, my betta (one that suffered damage) is doing ok, I've seen him laying on the bottom of the tank a lot recently, but hes also swiming around fine, I put that down to winter and just general inactivity, his fins have started slowing in growth as they are nice and long.

Im going to get into breeding a bit more seriously, I will look around for details on setting up a betta baracks but a more high tech version, (Semi-large tanks) side by side, plumping in each one for filtering and some spawning tanks.

That said, I need a high quality male, halfmoon, preferrably steel blue or steel green.

I promise to upload pics of babies + parents today

got it off ebay, search for brine shrimp eggs

its very strange, I gave up on the hatchery after 3 + days of bubbling, then I checked it about 3 days later because I had just left it standing, there were a good 30-50 hatched baby brine shrimp, I fed them later night to my baby betta. then bubbled it again for 12 hours, a few more have hatched.

The air pump must be on too strong, i have a valve arriving soon.

Really hard to get a picture.

Out of 6 that survived, 5 have died for reasons I dont know, they were at the bottom of the fry tank, laying dead with some type of white discharge on the bottom of the glass on which it laid.

The only one left has been eating lots of BBS and seems healthy, the other fry didnt eat eggs but this one did, and has survived.
