Oops! Frozen Bloodworms Un-Frozen

Hi all -- I left my package of frozen blood-worms out on the counter last night, so they are cold, but un-frozen. Do they go bad? Can I re-freeze them and keep using them?

I think you can re-freeze them as long as it wasn't warm or left in the sun.

This happened to me when I ordered five packs via mail order and the post lost them for a couple of days. They were completely defrosted and not cold; I risked it and re-froze them. They have now all gone and all my fish are still alive and unharmed.

One thing you will find is that because they have defrosted they will have separated out from the liquid so there will be a larger amount of 'blood' released into the water; I presume this has left the bloodworm lacking some protein and therefore not as nutritious but the fish still seemed to like them. Although a bit cheaper I have decided not to purchase by post again.

Mine always seem to defrost by the time I get home with them before I can get them in the freezer. I still use them, no harm done.

Depends what brand it is. If it's made by aquadistri or tmc or supafish then it's all been gamma irradiated and all the bugs killed and so refreezing it won't matter. Don't advise doing so if it's been more than 24 hours at a push or if it's open

The pack I'm using now defrosted before I got home I been using them for ages and the fish are all fine and I feed them to my baby axolotls and they are fine lol
