I did a water change last night and i forgot to switch my pump back on until now - will this have caused any distress to the fish?

They all seem ok except from my female Bleeding Heart Tetra (Mind you she's not been right since i bought her 4 weeks ago

I feel such an idiot

Do you mean filter, if so check your water stats, and can you describe the symtoms of the sick fish.

Well my pump and filter are all in one - sorry for being thick but i mean the pump that circulates the water

I am such a moron, you would think i know the difference between a pump and a filter

Off to do a water check now and post the results shortlt

Just tested the water and here are my stats

PH 7.6
Nitrate 5.0
Ammonia 0.00
Nitrite 0.00

All the other fish seem ok and are swimming about well - but i think my bleeding heart tetra is on it's last legs

Water is fine, i would issolate the sick fish if you can, even if you have to put it in a tupperware container in the tank.

I will do that now - Thanks for all the advice you guys

Make sure you change the water in the tupaware container. If the pumps been off the oxygen levels in the water will be lower than normal, so make sure you refresh the water in the container to give him a good chance.

now now!!

he has a problem he should be helped. :grr:

although we need to actually know what the symptoms are, if you can.

now leave him alone.

:* :good: :*

Ha Ha Ha Pauly :)

No seriously I have done everything you have all suggested - but tonight the fish is lying on it's side at the bottom of the tupperware container.

I know it can't be dead as it gills are moving (very slowly) But i feel guilty just watching it die - is there anything else i can try as it is quite distressing watching it?

Yes its dying sorry, fill a jug up with coldwater add some ice cubes, and tip over the fish in the container, it fast done it, sadly.

I am so sorry Wilder i have no ice - is there anything else i can do? Would just cold water work?

Yes very cold water i didn't use ice cubes either.
